Kakintalan Scents: A Mix of Perfume and Filipino Culture

"Beauty that's more than skin-deep," this is the belief of Kakintalan with their scents and concepts that they are introducing to the market.

The business was founded by students of Gr 12- AB123 of FEU Alabang namely Pascual, Fatima Joyce B., Fabian, Christine Marie M., Martin, Martha Sofia, and Pascua, Gwyneth. Kakintalan Scents is dedicated to creating oil-based perfumes that creates blends from natural oils and gourmand scents.

But what's really unique about them is the mixing of Filipino culture to their business concept.

The Junior Entrepreneurship Society was able to talk to one of the co-founders, Ms. Fatima Pascual, about the inspiration behind Kakintalan. Perfumes brings about a different impression to those who'll smell it; sometimes it even triggers memories in a person's mind, hence the name "kakintalan" meaning impression. The themes of the perfumes are based on Filipino mythological creatures, each character named for a specific scent of perfume.

"Kakintalan takes its perfume theme from local mythological characters which play a part with the perfume's scent, whether it will be sweet, musky, deep, oriental, floral, or spicy."

As of now, they have six scents available.

For Women:

Tala (Goddess of Stars)

Mayari (Goddess of the Moon)

Hanan (Goddess of Morning)

These names are the daughters of Bathala (a deity of the Filipino culture) born to a mortal woman.

For Men:

Amihan (Deity of the Wind)

Bathala (Deity of the Sky)

Sinaya (Deity of the Wind)

These are deities from the Filipino mythology.

Kakintalan can also easily fit in your bag or pouch! The perfumes are oil-based and is placed on a roll-on bottle for easy application and convenience, as contrast to bulky spray perfumes.
